Training so far

Having been training the new guys for about 1.5 months, feel good for seeing them improved quite a lot.

I dun whether the progress is better than the new guys last year, but to me, I feel that they progress quite well.

My emphasize is still at the catch at the front-stop. Also, I emphasize that every stop should end at the release rather than at the back-stop. I want to clear the misconception over the years that every stroke would be stopped at the back-stop.

Spirit

Mission or challenge...

What mission of challenge can I give to the new guys? This is to boost their spirit.

Technical Forum

Suddenly, I thought of setting up different topics on rowing, focusing on different aspects of rowing.

Let's continue here:

About water training, land training, and ergo.

Ergo-Theories
1. The power of a drive should be originated from the leg power. How effective the leg power is used is determined by the upper body can keep the handle moving along with the leg drive. This means that the movement of the handle (oar) relatives to the leg drive determines the effectiveness of the use of leg power at the front stop. ( Emphasize the use of leg power at the beginning of the drive. The upper body should be remained leaning forward. )

Target for freshmen

Maybe the short-term target for the freshmen is at the front-stop first.

Maybe we can do some exercise on catching at the front-stop.

We can start to focus on the catch and the drive. This is essential cos if they can realize the catch and be able to do the Hang, then we can go forward to tell them to use powers on the upper body and the leg together at the half-slide.
